My first toothbrush
Now that Talia has teeth next to each other (4 at the top and 2 at the bottom), I realised I ought to make more of an effort with brushing them, something I had always intended to do but hadn’t quite made part of our daily routine. I had been taking her into the bathroom so she could watch me brush my teeth before I ran one of those little slips-over-your-finger brushes over her gums. Then this week I actually bought a proper baby toothbrush, gave it to Talia to hold while I gave a demonstration… and she got the message! She put the brush into her mouth and waggled it around in a convincing imitation. For a baby who vary rarely mimics anything we do (like waving or sticking tongue out) it was particularly good. I called Daddyfeatures in to take a commemorative photo. And here we are:

More teeth
The second upper tooth is nearly through, and in the mean time the second front lower tooth (what a mouthful!) has made it’s way up into the world.

Tooth #2
Talia’s second tooth came through last week, at 13 months (10 months corrected), a month after the first tooth.
It is an upper tooth but not one of the two in the middle - it is off to the side. The corresponding upper tooth on the other side is also coming down. I have no idea what has happened to the two upper front teeth! Apparently the normal order is bottom front teeth, then top front teeth, then the ones to the side.
Once again Talia proves “we don’t do normal”.
Milestones of motherhood #1
Today I made my first batch of chocolate crackles!
Talia supervised from the Bumbo seat on the kitchen counter, and even licked the spoon.
I feel ridiculously pleased with myself for this not-particularly-difficult achievement.
It was almost as exciting as the fact that *drumroll* Talia cut her first tooth yesterday! Woo hoo! Just in time for her first birthday.
